Spirit – 16.2hh, 7yo Thoroughbred Gelding

A seriously fun and genuine all-rounder with a real talent for jumping.

Spirit is a full-up 16.2hh, 7-year-old thoroughbred who retired sound from racing in 2023 and has since been carefully retrained. He is now starting to work very sweetly on the flat, improving each week, but his real forte is over fences.

He is an incredibly bold, honest jumper who simply doesn’t say no – he will jump anything you put in front of him. He has competed at 80cm, taking everything in his stride and not stopping at any fillers. He gives his rider huge confidence and is the type to help you out if you get it wrong.

Despite his scope and enthusiasm, Spirit is sensible and straightforward to ride. He has been ridden by teenagers and is very much an “anyone’s ride” type – genuine, kind and easy to get on with.

Spirit does have a few sarcoids, which have been assessed by a vet and do not affect him under saddle.
