This is an honest add regarding a reluctant but necessary sale.
15’2, 14 years old, bay gelding.
We bought this beautiful boy earlier in the year for my daughtet to transition from ponies to horses.
We bought him unseen as he fitted the criteria and price.
Sadly, despite her falling head over heels in love with him on the ground, she hasn’t and never will bond with him in a ridden capacity.
Good bits about the wonderful boy - He is absolutely stunning and will turn heads in the ring for sure. (eligible for RoR)
He is amazing with vet, farrier, teeth, clip, bath. Will happily stand and be groomed all day long. He is also up to date with everything.
You can hack him out on the buckle and he is ridden in a snaffle. Happy to go behind or up front, and equally happy hacking on his own.
He’s been ridden over the narrowest of railway bridges and under motorway bridges without a flinch.
I have no idea what he is like in heavy traffic as we don’t have any near us, but he is kept on a working farm and is used to tractors and such like.
He has been living out since we got him, and only coming in on the few really awful days, or during the day when very hot, and he is more than happy with that.
He’s only had front shoes on since we had him, but I’m putting backs on him this week as he has a few fun rides coming up and the ground is super hard.
Hes lives in a small group of 6, mares and geldings and gets on very well with them all. Very respectful of fencing.
Not so good bits. I hate this bit because he isn’t a bad horse, he is stupid…
He is a thoroughbred and his brain can sometimes behave in ways we will never figure out. He will walk past a huge tractor, but then spook at a bush. When say spook, he jumps… and that’s it, he doesn’t rear, buck, spin, or run away. He jumps, looks, waits for the blade of grass to kill him and moves on.
He takes his confidence from his rider. If you’re chilled he is chilled, if you’re nervous he feeds of that.
I don’t know what else to say, he isn’t a 3 day eventer or a child’s first pony, but he will make someone a lovely all rounder. He has done a bit of everything, jumping, showing, fun rides and been happy doing this. He could do with a bit more schooling, but my daughter isn’t able to do this.
