Livery in Exchange for Horse Share?

I was about to begin searching for a horse to buy when it struck me that a mutually beneficial arrangement, where i provide livery and care of someone’s horse in exchange for me riding 3-4 days a week, might work. Or maybe this kind of arrangement might suit someone going off to university that wants to ride in the holidays?

Our small yard is at our family home in South Wonston, Winchester (SO21), where we have 7 acres, stables, a small all weather school (30x40) and excellent off road hacking in all directions. Our horses live out 24/7 unless the weather is truly horrid. I am a lightweight, quiet, experienced rider approaching 50 who enjoys classical riding and long, active hacks on my own and in company. I would prefer a gelding (as our other horses are all geldings) who’s 14h 3” to 15h 2” (due to small school), forward going, responsive and enjoys attention. I like horses with character but would prefer fairly good manners on the ground and ridden. I’m not interested in adrenaline filled rides, galloping or jumping but the horse must be sound and healthy and able to lead an active life.

I’m looking to part loan/share a kind allrounder that has got the knowledge & experience, is safe & loves a fuss. I’m a kind/light rider with dreams to compete at amateur eventing (80cm/90cm), but before then, i’d like to like to build our bond through lessons, RC activities, fun rides, SJ, Dressage, XC schooling, clinics, camps etc.

I understand that the below points might not all be do-able, but the more, the merrier!

• Preferably a gelding
• 15.2.hh-16.2hh
• 8+ yo
• Allrounder type (been there, done that)
• Must hack alone & in company
• Good to load/travel, clip, shoe, catch etc
• Capable to go eventing once we feel we’re ready!
• Open to breeds, however ideally something with a calm mind that has a bit of bone (ISH/ID/Connemara x)

More than happy to help with yard chores & general care as if they’re my own. Also happy to negotiate a sensible cost pcm.

* Needs to respect eletric fencing and happy to be caught

Maybe suit someone who hasn't got the time or funds to pay for assisted livery or someone looking for a retirement home for their family pony that has been outgrown or can no longer be riden.

I have ridden since a young age and worked with horses but since having my three children I have had very little time to ride so have only ridden a handful of times in the last 8 years.

Im a tall lady of 5ft 10 and 11.5 stone so would need something suitable for my height and weight.

I am experienced rider having owned horses for 10 years, competed at Elementary dressage, show jumped at discovery level, hunted and bought on youngsters. Since having children I am now looking for a sensible horse above 15hh to ride 1-2 times a week. Flexibility on days would be an advantage. Due to my 10 year old daughter outgrowing the pony she currently rides we are looking for a new best friend for her. We are looking for a full loan to move to our current yard on full grass livery (so must be able to live out). My daughter is tall for her age (5ft) so around 14/14.2hh would be great. Will consider a little smaller if pony takes up the leg well. MUST be a confidence giver as Elsie is an anxious (but determined) rider. All rounder required as it would be nice to get out and do a little low level dressage/jumping. Elsie takes weekly lessons at our gorgeous yard where I keep my own horse. All hacking is on site, great facilities and knowledgeable staff .... pony would literally want for nothing and be loved as our own.

I'm looking for a shetland or small pony that my 5 year old son can share once or twice a week, near Selborne, Alton.

He's confident and can trot and pop over small jumps off the lead (on the right pony!). He would suit something forward going and on a yard with a school on site.

We shared a Shetland before we moved to Selborne at the end of last year and his riding came on really quickly. I'm a horsey mum who has owned and evented horses.

Must be good hacking and on the roads, to shoe, clip and load.

I’m wondering if anyone has the impossible. I’m 16, and I’d love a loan horse to move yards to a private yard in Bashley which I can love and adore like my own. All I ask is:

🐴 Bombproof to hack would be a massive bonus, not necessary!

Looking for a pony to share for 2 or 3 days a week within the Alderholt/Fordingbridge/Verwood area. We are ideally looking for a pony around 14.2hh but could be slightly smaller/bigger. My daughter is a good rider but lacks confidence so the pony would need to be quite a safe ride. She has had horses before and we have horses however they are all too big for her to ride regularly. Seeking a long term loan for an extremely competent rider in a knowledgeable loving home. Ideally seeking something that will do low level competing/ riding club activities and hack out alone/ in company and go on beach rides. Must be able to cope with living out all year as have lots of ground available and prefer keeping mine this way, with the option of coming in to loose boxes during very harsh weather. This is on a farm so something sane/ unbothered by machinery and livestock preferable. Would be kept company by my retired ex dressage/ eventing WB gelding and his buddy a Fells pony mare. Tall slim lady so requiring something 16hh to 17hh, age no concern providing the horse is sound. Quirks also no concern as long as there is no nastiness about it. No breed preference but prefer decent amount of bone, with a decent neck and shoulder to sit behind.

Hello!

Two best friends looking for two happy hackers to ride once or twice a week long term. Both have years of ridden experience and looking for something to enjoy together due to my friends last share sadly being put down.

We’re 31 and 36 years old and have BHS insurance. We’re 5’4 and 5’7 and have ridden anything from new forest ponies to warmbloods, however I definitely prefer a pony in the slower lane but happy to pick up the pace, whereas my friend will ride anything. She definitely prefers something more forward as her last horse was a thoroughbred so she really gets on with something more challenging.
