  • 0 Easter Break & Scheduled Server Migration

Easter Break & Server Migration Plan 2nd – 9th April We will be taking a short Easter break before beginning the planned migration of the NFED website to our new server. This pause will give us a much‑needed breather before the real work begins, and it also avoids making last‑minute updates immediately before the site is taken offline. From 9pm on Thursday 2nd April – 7th April (08:00) New Classified Adverts, Directory Listings, and Events will not be accepted. The site will remain online for viewing. Existing adverts can still be edited, and enquiries can be sent as normal. Server Migration Begins: 7th April at 08:00 The site will be taken offline while it is migrated to the new server. We have allowed up to three days for the migration, although we hope it will be completed sooner. After Migration Once the site is fully installed and tested on the new server, NFED will return to normal operation. New adverts, listings, and events will be accepted again.

  • 0 Unplanned Server Change & Scheduled Downtime

I’ve been informed that our hosting company will be shutting down all dedicated servers on 31st May 2026. Unfortunately, this means that, less than two years after our last move, we now have just two months to migrate the NFED to a new server. A transition of this scale will inevitably cause some disruption, and there will be periods of downtime. If we want to keep the old NFED running, we have no choice but to roll up our sleeves and get on with it. All updates will be posted below and our social channels. Before the main site goes offline, I’ll give as much notice as possible and will work to keep downtime to a minimum. In the meantime, I’ll be busy triple checking backups and putting a full migration plan in place. Apologies for any inconvenience, and thank you for your patience. • 0 Spambot Attack

We experienced a spambot attack overnight from testing@example.com IP range 191.96.207.204, which generated a large number of advert enquiry emails. Although inconvenient due to the volume, the messages are harmless. The IP range has now been blocked from accessing the site. If you received an enquiry, please feel free to simply delete any emails received.

  • 0 NFED into 2026 – Happy New Year!

When we first launched the NFED back in 1999, I never dreamed I’d still be running it in 2026 — now officially as a pensioner, no less! I may be older on paper, but I don’t feel it, and we’re still out riding, so the adventure continues. What amazes me most is that, even with the explosion of social media groups and countless online alternatives, the NFED is still going strong. That tells us something important: there’s still a real appetite for an independent, community‑focused resource that isn’t driven by outside advertising or algorithms. As long as the site is useful, pays its way, and I have the time to keep it running, the NFED will continue as the hobby business it’s always been. If any of that changes, I’ll review things — but right now, we’re full steam ahead. If you value this unique platform, please keep using it, share it with others, and help spread the word. And if you run an equestrian or countryside business or offer services, adding your listing to the Services Directory really does make a difference. Together, we can keep this trusted, independent resource thriving well into the future. Wishing you all a very Happy New Year — here’s to a fantastic 2026!
