NFED Classified Photographs - The Basics

All NFED Classified adverts will accept up to four images in jpg, jpeg, bmp png or gif format. Large image files will take time to upload but this will depend on your connection speed. We recommend using a good WiFi or 4G connection to avoid timeout problems.

You should upload one at the time, each image will be reduced automatically to a maximum of 960px x 960px on upload.

You can upload the photos at the final stage of the advert submission or at anytime afterwards through the advert control panel. The main image must be uploaded to trigger the other images to be displayed.

If the photo uploads successfully, you will get a message & a thumbs up uploaded

When the advert is viewed each image will link to the larger image.

The main image must be uploaded to trigger any further images to be displayed. If the main photos fails, but the others upload ok, they will not be shown in the advert until the main image is in place.

The advert heading will appear under each full size photo.
Note: Quotation marks may prevent text from showing under the photo.

Upload Problems
There are many reasons why photos fail to upload, large images & slow connections being the most common. Reducing the image size & using a good connection, 4G or WiFi will resolve most problems.
The image must be the correct format. Formats such as pdf, word are not recognised as images, other formats such as Apple heic is not compatible with PCs or webservers, see below. Some images that have been downloaded from Facebook, will include extra code causing the image to be rejected.
For basic problems you will get an error message. If the photo is not recognised or fails to upload within 60 seconds it may time out without an error message.

iPhone or iPad
Photos must be uploaded as jpg not heic format. HEIC is an Apple format that is not recognised by website servers, so although may upload successfully, will not be resized or displayed in browsers.
If your phone is on factory/default settings the photo will be converted to a jpg before it is transferred, but changing settings to "Keep Originals" will cause issues.

Go to Settings > Photos.
Scroll down to the Transfer to Mac or PC section.
Select Automatic.

Photos should then upload as compatible jpg's without having to edit your original images.

Regardless of the problem, don't struggle. Send the photos to us & providing we can view the photo, we can convert, resize & upload it for you, see photo support below.

Replacing Photos
To replace an existing photo, simply upload a new photo & it will replace your old one. If it uploads successfully but doesn't change, you may need to refresh the page as you are still seeing the old photo held in your history.

Removing a Photo
If you upload the wrong photo, simply upload another in the same slot & it will replace the original, but you may need to refresh the page to see the difference. If you need to remove a photo completely & not replace it, please contact admin & we will remove the image for you. Please supply your advert number & which image to remove.

Showing More Photos
To show more than four photos:

  1. Create photo compilations or montages, each will count as one image.
  2. Add links to online photo albums or videos. Simply copy & paste the link into your advert text.
