NFED Help & Frequently Asked Questions

Searching the the NFED

The NFED uses Google Custom Search for a full site wide search, but also has built in dedicated search facilities for the Classifieds, Directory, Events & Help.

Google Custom Search
The Google Custom Search will search the entire site. There are Google sponsored ads displayed at the top of the results, which are not connected with the NFED, the NFED results are shown below. The Google search works very well, but is only updated when Google crawls the site, so the very latest updates may not be included & some results may no longer be available.

NFED Search Engines
The main sections; Classifieds, Directory, Event Diary & Help each have their own built in search engines. Each will only search that specific category & are updated in real time. New posts will be shown, expired posts will not.

The NFED is a huge resource, using the search can save a lot of time if used correctly, so it is worth reading these basic tips.

• Don't use words that are in the category titles or it will find every advert in that category.
• Don't use the, and, offered, ect or every advert will be found that contain those words.
• If a word can be written different ways, search for common letters or carry out several searches.
• Fewer words or part words are often better & give more accurate results.

Examples:
Looking for an Albion Saddle, enter "Albion" & only adverts containing "albion are found, enter "Albion saddle" & all adverts with the word saddle are found.

If you are looking for a 13.2 driving pony. This can be written several ways: driving, driven, drive. If you search for "driving" it will not find "driven". Enter the common letters "driv" & select the 14.2hh & under offered category. All adverts which contain the letters driv (driving, driven, drive) in the under 14.2hh category will be shown.

You would like a new forest foal in the classifieds. Enter "forest" & select the foals & youngstock category.

To view a certain advert & you know the number, enter the advert number in the search.

Looking for events at a venue, just enter the venue name in the calendar search.
