Description

For sale on behalf of a client.

Applewitch Zodiac (Bea) is a pretty 15 year old 13.2 fully registered New Forest Pony.

Sire: Luckington Sportaide
Dam: Applewitch Clairvoyant

Full history is known and Bea has done a bit of everything over the years, although over the past few years she has mainly hacked and hunted and according to past owners she excels at hunting.

Bea is a safe and sensible ride and loves her hacking and jumping. In these situations she works well, listening to her rider and has a very light snaffle mouth. She is not a fizzy type and is good with traffic, open spaces and hounds. Bea hacks alone and in company and is non spooky.

Bea is not so keen on flat work and whilst she can work well in a school and does a nice dressage test this is not ‘her’ which is why she is up for sale. Any new home must be aware of this as she can become sour with school work so a varied work life would be desired.

This year Bea has been taken to a number of shows and behaved impeccably.
She has taken part in jumping classes with a ten year old child, dressage and in hand classes and came away with some good placings. She has also done cross country with one of the local riding clubs. She loads and travels like a dream alone but not with others on board.

In terms of living arrangements Bea can become very stressed in a busy yard and is best suited to a private home or small livery yard. She is currently kept on full grass livery on a private yard and is in a small paddock on her own but with neighbouring ponies. However, she does not get upset when neighbouring ponies come in and she is left out.

Last winter she was kept out with a large mixed herd with lots of space and also in a smaller paddock with two others. However, she can become territorial around food and so living out with a herd must be managed carefully.

Bea is good to handle on the ground, enjoys attention and will always greet you at the field. She is good to catch, shoe and clip, and is fine with the vet, dentist (no sedation required) and physio. She has been known in the past not to get on with other horses but this has mostly been apparent to the current owner when food is involved. For this reason she has not been stabled as she will get stressed if too close to others and especially at feeding times.

Bea does suffer with sweet itch but this has been managed well with rugs, a face mask and creams/lotions as needed. She respects electric fences and because of her sweet itch we would not recommend other types of fencing or stabling in the sweet itch season as she will rub herself if given the opportunity.

Bea would suit a wide range of riders. A competent teenager, adult or family share. Although she is only 13.2 she takes up your leg well.

Bea will come with her bridle, sweet itch and winter rugs. She is up to date with her vaccinations, shoes, physio and dentist.

Genuine enquiries only as this has been a very difficult decision for the owner. All homes will be vetted.

Price: £3,500
