| Beaulieu road Pre-sale foal show 20th October |
||||||
Despite a chilly start to the day the sun shone on all who attended the New Forest Pony Publicity Group's Pre-sale foal show. Held at the Beaulieu road sale yard a large crowd gathered to watch judge Malcolm Fry go about the difficult job of selecting the top foals out of the high standard that was entered. Winner of the filly class was the well grown Rushmoor Duchess bred by Mr Stride who made top price of the foal show entries at 270gns. Due to the high
number of colt foals entered it was necessary to split their classes
in to three. The winner of the first class the smart brown colt Ridley
Impression bred by Charlotte Lines and sired by the Olympia Supreme
Stallion Farriers Fingerprint out of the well known champion mare Beaulieu
Breezer. The 2nd of the colt classes was won by the eyecatching roan
Burnford Strawberry Wine bred by Young Commoner Nicola Denness and sired
by Okedean Mr President. This lovely colt then went on to become overall
champion and make 265gns when sold. The winner of the 3rd colt class
Glenbeech Russle by Portmore Tempest stood reserve for his breeder Jim
Haynes and then made a decent 150gns in the sale ring. Although prices were down on previous years it was still encouraging to see a high level of quality ponies being offered for sale and for certain some bargins were had by a number of lucky buyers. The last Beaulieu road sale of this year will be on Thursday 24th November.
