Hi all.

Has anyone had any experience with Sedalin?

My vet has given me a tube for my gelding for when I clip him, as I will be clipping him alone and he is very ticklish and fidgets alot - which in turn stresses him out.

I have been advised to give my boy (15.3hh tb) half the syringe, but vet didn't tell me how far in advance to administer before clipping.

I've used ACP tablets before and they took a couple of hours to take hold. I am assuming the gel will work faster as it doesn't have to disolve first.

If anyone has had any experience with Sedalin, and can give me a rough idea how long it will take to become effective, I
I'd be very greatful! (Don't want to give it to my boy before the school run if it only takes half an hour to work!)

Why don't you ring your vet to check?

Give it about 20 minutes before you plan to start. Do not let him see/hear clippers or anyhting else that might stress him (horses arriving/leaving the yard etc) before he is 'under' if you can help it, as if the adrenalin levels spike before the sedalin has kicked in he may well fight it and then you are 'stuffed' :( Once its kicked in he should really be sleepy and chilled - you may want his head near a stable door or something you can prop it on so you can clip under his throat if you haven't got a helper to hold it up - some zonk out so deeply their chins are on the floor.

On the other hand, I clip one for a friend (14hh NF) and we started with a third of a tube and ended up giving the lot and STILL we couldn't get her done as she fought it all the way :aggro: :( She is now sedated by the vet for us to clip her... :|

Thank you for your advice 'fallingoffhurts'.

All clipped and looking very stunning! :curtsey:

Sedalin worked enough to take the 'edge off him' and he did really well and didn't fidget too much! ;)

I'm now off to shave my clothes before putting them in the washing machine!!
