Hi I have just looked at the poster that is going to be used in the hope that accidents involving livestock can be reduced and at the very least these drivers are prosecuted and car seized . This has the shock factor , I felt very saddened that any human being could leave an animal to suffer as this poor pony had, R.I.P.

At last! Something that may really make people think, I say may, because you're always going to get the b******s who think the ponies are an inconvenience.I also hope it would make other motorists more inclined to report what they may witness. This is definitely a good idea. Shock tactics.I also think that although the hunt do a great job collecting casualties very quickly, perhaps if they were left just that little bit longer for people to see then it would really make them understand what speed & careless driving does. The thought of the clocks going back soon & the dark journeys from work when all anyone is interested in is getting home, fills me with dread...... :(

Did you like it? I designed that poster. There's been an awful spate of incidents recently, lets hope that at least we can catch some of the b***ers who hit these animals and just leave them - thats if the garages we've sent the posters to actually bother to read them :(
For my next 'project' I think i'm going to design and distribute a poster for general public consumption - though it'll probably have to be not so graphic as this one (which is in colour on the posters and looks far far worse than in b&w) as otherwise there will be uproar; the public are quite happy to turn a bling eye it seems to these incidents but confront them with images and they start to complain

Yes munchkin. it's a really good move towards public awareness, well done! With dark evenings approaching, people should see this. It might sound harsh, but I also think children should see a toned down version too, they might then know that when they are in the car with mum or dad , that by saying 'watch out for ponies', parents might take a lesson from their kids!
I regularly take registrations of blatant speeders, but police just are'nt interested. We SO need more police presence on the roads. I also contact companies whose drivers drive carelessly. The companies are usually very cooperative. Anyway, great stuff, lets hope it makes a difference ;)

Glad evening reports good. Just seen morning BBC south report just showed usual pretty pix of ponies grazing and reported the bare figures and that garages had been asked to report suspected cars - all good so far because this is prime early viewing for commuters who might be using Forest as a rat run, but I think they should have showed the poster and I also believe (from chatting with people) that they should point out when talking about the depastured animals that they are in private ownership, so that damage to the stock is not just an act of cruelty but also an act of theft damaging certain life style. I would love to see a campaign on TV where animals are shown with their own commoner and the commoner gives facts about the length of time they or their family have been on the forest and also the same info about the animals. After all registered ponies can trace there lineage back to 1860 or so (Fieldmarshalls sire, name not to hand!). and there are not many people who can do that with certainity, :cry_girl:

Why is it just being circulated to repair garages? could'nt petrol stations be asked to display the poster? :?:

I wanted to target garages specifically, because this campaign is aimed at catching drivers who hit & run, when they take their cars for repair; the theory is that it may become apparent during conversations between the motorist and the mechanics how the damage occured and then the garages - now they are aware of the reward - may be more forthcoming with reporting drivers. We want to get the message across that its not acceptable and drivers will get found out, and fined, heavily.

My next job is to design a poster for more general public display; the current poster's wording is specific to garages and wouldnt make sense pinned up anywhere else.

Incidentally, we (I / the NFCDA) did look into advertising on petrol pump handles, but the cost was phenominal (+£3000 for about a months worth of advertising) :|

Understood. I really hope it all makes people think. It must be obvious to the repairers in some cases what has caused the damage? Fingers crossed eh! ;)
