Colleagues,

May I take this opportunity to give you yet another reminder to ensure that you check gates and barriers providing access to your land? Please ensure that they are in good order. This may prevent access to travellers but can also assist us to investigate and use S61 powers to prove if locks or gates, etc, are damaged to gain entry. An unauthorised encampment near the Luzborough roundabout in Romsey has recently moved towards Eastleigh.

We have had a few reports from people, particularly horse riders, where vehicle index numbers have been recalled incorrectly. If you are riding with a friend it may be useful for one of you to remember the first part of the index, and the second person to remember the latter part.

Three separate reports have been received this week of dogs being killed after running out into the road. Two of them ran out of private driveways and the other ran from a field whilst its owner was tending to the horses. Please ensure that you keep your dog under control at all times.

Two incidents of theft have been reported where the offenders have used wheel-barrows left at the scene to transport the items away. Please try to ensure that such items are stored securely and not left lying around in fields. Let’s not make it easy for the bad people!

Sergeant Louise Hubble
