Topic review - Country Watch New Forest 15th March 2012

Post subject:  Country Watch New Forest 15th March 2012  Reply with quote
Colleagues,

Over the last weekend the Country Watch team supported Fordingbridge Neighbourhood Officers in a rural operation. Officers patrolled remote vulnerable locations providing an increased presence. Numerous vehicles were stop-checked throughout the operation.

On Tuesday I facilitated a meeting with various partner agencies to discuss the issue of dog related incidents. This included dogs attacking livestock, dogs attacking people and dog fouling, particularly on footpaths through private land. The aim was to agree areas of responsibility between Police and Local Authority, and to ensure that information relating to incidents is recorded and investigated in the most appropriate manner.

On Wednesday I attended the Police Control Room to meet with an Inspector to discuss mapping issues. Most of you will be all too aware of the difficulties in trying to deploy a Police officer to a remote location known only by local names. As part of a long-term project we are trying to agree access points to estates and farms where keepers and farmers can agree to meet the Police. This will save a lot of time and frustration for all concerned, and also improve the service that we provide to you.

The team conducted a Stay Under 40 operation in the South West quadrant. Two fixed penalty notices were issued for speeds of 52 and 68 miles per hour. Four referrals were made to driver awareness training courses and several warnings were issued for other offences.
