Fiona Macdonald

Fiona was originally an event rider, who could not understand the significance of dressage at that time! Then a succession of stopping horses dented her confidence, while at the same time one of her event horses showed some aptitude for dressage. A visit to Germany followed, where she purchased a dressage schoolmaster, whom she admits taught her so much! She went from thinking sitting trot was pretty neat to competing up to Intermediare I. This horse was also a passport to high level tuition, and over the years she has been trained by Ferdi Eilberg, Paul Fielder and Carol Parsons. Her most recent top horse, Alf-Resco, was bought by her as a raw 4 year old and she competed him up to Premier League Prix St Georges as well as training him in all the Grand Prix movements. He is now happily working as a schoolmaster in Kent, thus completing the circle! She has started again with a young horse at Novice, so understands the sport from the very basic levels which gives her a clear insight into the day-to-day problems of horse training, right through the grades.
