Introduction
This page is an
extention to the Trailer Logo scheme operated by Hampshire Horsewatch
which a growing number of members are joining. As always Hampshire
Horsewatch is trying to improve the service it provides to its members
in respect of its aims and objective which is crime prevention and
reduction.
When a horse trailer
or horse box is being driven on a road or seen in any location there
is no indication that it could be stolen. There may be clues such
as inappropriate towing vehicle, number plates on the trailer not the
same as the towing vehicle, wrong sort of person driving the towing
vehicle, wrong sort of day to be towing, trailer/box never seen in
that location before! Displaying the logos on a trailer/box sends
out a message to those in the know that it belongs to a Hampshire
Horsewatch member. What Horsewatch Members and other members of the
community are encouraged to do is look out for trailers or boxes displaying
the logos and take note of registration numbers, location and direction
of travel and report these sightings or observations onto this site.
If a trailer/box displaying logos was stolen it may be that it will
be seen and details as described above recorded on the site. This
may be prove to be a valuable investigative aid and assist in identifying
the persons responsible and recovering the trailer/box.
The system will
only work if members or the community participate. The community are
the eyes and ears of policing! Your assistance and involvement is
very much appreciated.
The above is complimentary
to other methods of reporting incidents. If a crime in action is taking
place or the there is an emergency use the 999
system. For
all other telephone contact into Hampshire Constabulary call 0845
045 45 45
REMEMBER: The
thief's best friend is the Community's apathy.
