Multiple User Names

There are many genuine reasons to have more than one user name, but anyone found to be using more than one user name to deliberately mislead other forum users, will have their membership revoked.

If you feel that your membership has been revoked unfairly, please contact: editor@nfed.co.uk Your case will be looked into, but the administrator has the final decision.

Forum Rules.

These few simple rules are here to protect the forum users and the good name of the NFED.
Please read them carefully & enjoy using the NFED forums.

By using the NFED forums/message boards, you agree to abide by the rules. Any posts breaking the rules will be removed, persistent rule breakers will be removed from the user group. You may reapply for membership if you wish, this is at the discretion of the administrator.

The following list is not exhaustive & we will remove any posts that we feel may bring the NFED into disrepute or cause offence to its users.

The NFED forums are here for your enjoyment & information & are used entirely at your own risk. NFED/CK Art neither endorses nor guarantees the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any information published by the form users.

Any opinions, advice, statements or other information expressed or made available by users of the forums, are those of the respective author(s) or distributor(s) and not of NFED/CK Art. If you post a photo, please comply to UK copyright laws & ensure that you have the photographers permission to use the photo. Any copyright disputes are between the copyright owner & the poster. On the Tracing Horses forum, we do have an obligation to remove any posts if requested to by the present owner.

STRICTLY NO ADVERTS of any kind, wanted or offered. There is no need to advertise on the forum, we have a dedicated classified section for this purpose with built in safeguards for your protection and to promote commoning, a free advertising section for Forest Bred ponies. All adverts or posts that mention items or animals for sale or wanted will be removed without notice unless it is discussing an advert in the classifieds.

To protect the interests of NFED Sponsors who pay to provide this service, business announcements are only permitted by those that have paid to advertise in the NFED Business Directory, have banner adverts or are NFED Affiliates. Posts not complying will be removed without notice.

Signatures. You are welcome to add signatures to your posts, but please avoid oversized pictures & don't include sound in any videos used. Advertising any kind of commercial service or linking to a website is not allowed unless you a current advertiser in the NFED Business Directory, have a banner advert or are an NFED Affiliate. Posts not complying will be removed without notice, repeat offenders will be removed from the members list.

We want to offer a comprehensive & unbiased service which does allow links to other websites of interest, but any links posted to websites of an unsuitable nature, sites with the intention of poaching NFED users/members or creating a conflict of interest with either the NFED or its sponsors will be removed.

CRIME INFORMATION. If you are posting crime information on the Horsewatch Forums, please give as much detail as possible, including: your name, descriptions, dates, times, crime numbers & officers attending. Photos can be added in the normal way, see Photos & Links. Please remember to post follow ups if/when there is any news.

As with all internet sites, please be careful & do not give out personal information. For safety's sake, keep your full name, address and telephone number secret. We have no way of knowing who people are on the forum or if they are who they say they are. This is especially important for our younger members, do not tell anyone your age, sex, address, phone number or post any other personal information. Please see www.ceop.gov.uk for further information. Any posts fishing for personal information will be removed.

For the same reason, please do not give out other people's information. If you cross-post something, take out all personal information such as the person's last name, address (snail or email) and phone number. If you do post such information, the post will be removed. If you have some important information ask others to email you for it and give it to them that way. Remember that you are responsible for your posts.

Please remember that these forums are read by riders of all ages and capabilities. Careless talk or bragging about ignoring safety issues or encouraging dangerous actions that could possibly influence younger riders will not be tolerated.

Watch your language. This site is open to people of all ages to learn and discuss equestrian subjects, so please keep it clean.

Please do not type in upper case (Capitals) which is considered shouting. Please also avoid using txt type. Unlike SMS, there is no limit to the number of characters that can be used, so text type is not needed and can be difficult for some users to read.

If you ask a question and somebody takes the time to post a reply, please have the common decency to acknowledge the effort that they have made on your behalf.

Be kind & respectful to other forum users. Please do not forget that you are talking to living feeling human beings!

Please read your own posts or replies to ensure they cannot be taken the wrong way. Many arguments are caused by misreading a post.

Do not be afraid to post or to sound dumb, this site is here for you to learn from others!

Please keep posts on topic for the forum in use. This is an equestrian site and visitors obviously expect to see conversations of an equestrian nature, we reserve the right to remove off topic posts without notice. The only exception is the members forum which is more relaxed to allow people connected by a common interest to discuss other subjects.

Make new posters feel welcome. Remember that new users may be shy or nervous, and that they can greatly benefit from the old timers on the boards. If you've been around for a while, be sure to introduce yourself to the newbies and help show them the ropes.

Feel free to lurk. You do not have to post messages to learn from the forums. Many people enjoy reading the posts without posting anything themselves.

Keep disagreements civil. You certainly do not have to agree with everyone on the forums, but please keep your disagreements on topic. You can argue a point without being nasty or simply ignore it. Be prepared to listen to other points of view without becoming abusive or upset. In the horse world there is usually more than one correct way to tackle a problem. Remember that each new reply will take a post back to the top giving it further attention, so if you do not like a post, it is better to ignore it. Unhelpful sarcastic replies do not help anybody and will not be tolerated!

NO PERSONAL ATTACKS. There is no reason whatsoever for name calling and rudeness. You can argue and disagree while still being respectful of others.

Harassing, offensive, vulgar, abusive, hateful or bashing communications - including those aimed at sexual orientation, gender, race, religion, national origin, or disability will absolutely not be tolerated.

Keep personal disagreements personal. If you disagree or dislike one person in particular, please take your comments to e-mail, where they belong.

Any posts meant to bait others into a personal disagreement unrelated to the board topic will be removed. Any arguments of a personal nature will also be removed. Please, whenever possible, help steer others away from personal arguments!

Posting Photos or Links

To post photos on the NFED Forums you must have a Network 54 account and be an approved member of the users group, both of which are free of charge. You must be logged in to post your photograph on the forum. The Horsewatch forums are slightly different, allowing anyone to post crime information & photos without logging in.

If you post a photo, it must be of a suitable nature for a public forum that is open to all age groups. Please first ensure that you have the photographers permission to use the photo. In most cases, the photographer owns the copyright under UK copyright laws. Using any photograph without the photographers consent is breaking the law. Any copyright disputes are between the copyright owner & the poster.

Photos can be uploaded to Network 54 and then inserted in your message, but these have a limited life span. By far the easiest way is to open a free photo storage account with a company such as Photo Bucket www.photobucket.com Your photos can then be uploaded to your photo storage account to share with your friends and family.

Photos saved on your storage account will have a unique URL, simply copy and paste this into your message where you would like the photo to be.

PLEASE NOTE: You must be an approved group member and be logged in for this to work, or you will just see the URL i.e. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v13/demouser/134f80fd.jpg

To add a link to another website. Make sure that you are logged in to your Network 54 account and have joined the users group. Type or paste in the full URL including the http:// and a link will be created automatically.

Editing Posts with Links

When you add a url in your post, providing that you include the http:// before it, the software will automatically write the html code to turn it into a link.

If you then edit the post, it can get confused & double up the html. To prevent this happening, when you edit the post, you must remove <a href=" before the url and " target="_new" rel="nofollow"> after the url.

Example

You will see <a href="http://www.yourlink.com" target="_new" rel="nofollow">

Remove the code before & after to leave http://www.yourlink.com the code will be replaced when the changes are saved.

Picture Size

If your photos are too large, they cannot be viewed without scrolling across the page and will take a long time to download. Before you upload your photos, crop and resize them if necessary, but remember to always first save the original and work on a copy. The ideal size is between 300 and 500 pixels wide. Any basic art or photo editing program will have the facilities to do this, see your programs help section for further advice. Further information & a free resizing program can be found on the NFED Classified Photo Help page.

If you do not have an art program, your photos can be resized after they have been uploaded to your Photobucket account. Go to Edit, then select Resize. When the photo has been resized, simply copy the photo's URL and paste it into your NFED Forum post.
