you to view, post, modify, or delete listings. If you submit a new listing,
you will be asked to select a password, your advert will also be given

submission does not follow guidelines, is missing required information

Do I have to use my real name?
With so much mistrust on the Internet and to create
a safer environment, we do ask you to use your real name or company
name when you submit a listing.

Why do I have to give my address
when posting an advert?
Over the years that we have been running this website,
we have been asked to help several police forces and authorities with
their enquiries into various advertiser’s activities. Although all advertisers
are solely responsible for their own adverts, we have to accept some
responsibility for the website and who we allow to use it.
Therefore, to help fight fraud, equine crime and to discourage the less
honest advertiser, we do not permit anonymous advertising and ask you
to enter your name, postal address and phone number when posting an
advert or directory listing
We fully understand that you may not want to show your street address
and phone number and there is an option to hide the details from public
view, but it is important to have this information on record in the
event of an investigation.
Your details will always be kept in strictest confidence and will not
be passed on anyone other than the relevant authorities in the event
of an investigation or used for advertising purposes.
If you are not prepared to supply your full name and postal address
to the site administrator, we can only assume that you have something
to hide and will not allow you to benefit from our advertising facilities.
How do I hide my address and
phone number?
On the submission form there is an option which asks
“Would you like to display your postal address and phone number in ad?”
simply select NO and your street address and telephone number fields
will not be shown in your advert. If you would like to show your telephone
number, but not your street address, the number will have to be put
it the main advert text.
Please note: If you modify your advert you must reselect NO each time,
as the default setting will show your address.
What should I put in the "Text
of Ad" box?
We advice you to first type out your advert in a word
processing program such as MS Word. This gives you a chance to read
back your advert, check your spelling and grammar, all of which can
make your advert so much more appealing to potential customers. When
you are happy with the advert, simply copy and paste it into the submission
form.
Please describe the service that you offer in as much detail as you
can and remember that the directory search engine will search these
words when a site user is trying to find a suitable business. You can
use a maximum 750 words and a photo/logo or compilation.

Does my listing work?
You should receive an automated reply when your listing
was submitted, if you did not receive this there may be problem. Try
sending a reply to your own advert to see if it works.
If you do not receive your enquiry there are a number of things to check.
First of all, check that you have entered your Email address correctly.
This can be done using the ““Modify Listing” option. Remember that there
should be no spaces in an Email address. If your address is correct,
check your anti-spam software and folders to ensure the Emails are not
getting blocked. If you are an AOL user, see next paragraph.
If none of these options work, try opening a new free Email account
and changing your address using the ““Modify Ad” option. We personally
would recommend www.fmail.co.uk
which is an excellent free service and has been fully tested with the
directory and classifieds. It can also be added to your Outlook or other
Email clients to send and receive in the normal way.

Important Information for AOL Users
We have been receiving reports from AOL users who are
having problems receiving replies to their adverts. On further investigation,
this seems to be down to AOL’s latest anti-spam software blocking automated
or form generated Emails. This is a well documented problem with AOL
which is affecting companies all around the world, making it impossible
for them to contact customers on AOL.
Until this matter is resolved, we advise all AOL users not to use their
standard AOL Email address in the classifieds, directory or NFED mailing
list. The simplest way over the problem is to open a free Email account,
such as Fastmail, Hotmail or Yahoo and use this Email account for your
advert/s.
You should have received an automated reply when your advert was submitted,
if you did not receive this, it has probably been blocked by AOL. Try
sending a reply to your own advert to see if it works.
If it does not work, open a new Email account. You can then change the
Email address used for your advert with the “Modify Ad” option. If you
didn’t receive the automated Email containing your advert number, this
can be seen on the left hand side of your ad, just above “Date Submitted”.
If you would prefer not to open a new account you can add the email
address to the advert description or ensure that your advert is clearly
marked NO EMAIL.

How do I know if my listing has
been approved?
When you have submitted payment, and your listing has
been approved, you will receive confirmation by Email along with a receipt.
Your title will be added to the advertiser A to Z with a direct link
to your listing. Your listing will be viewable under each of the requested
categories, but please note new listings are added to the bottom of
the page. A link will also be added to the NFED Home page 'What's New'
section which is sent out on each mailing list Email for four weeks.

Why is the Directory listed oldest at the top & the Classifieds newest at the top?
The Services Directory has always run this way giving top position to the oldest & most loyal advertisers. The affiliates (main sponsors) take the very top positions, followed by the standard listing (basic sponsors).
Unlike the classifieds which are browsed regularly, people tend to go to the directory looking for a definite service in a particular area & will therefore take more time to find the correct person or business. All advertisers are also listed in the advertiser A to Z & can be searched, so a lower listing is not a disadvantage.
Why was my listing not approved?
All new ads have to be approved by the administrator,
yes a real person before they are posted on the site, this is normally
done within 24 hours, but may take longer at busy times.
All listings or adverts must comply to our guidelines and to discourage
dishonest advertisers full contact details must be supplied, but you
can choose to have these hidden from public view. Any listings or adverts
not complying to the guidelines, trying to fool the system, or posted
by blacklisted advertisers will not be accepted.
Adverts that do not have full address details WILL NOT be approved.
Typing XXXXXX or anything other than an address in the address box will
automatically disqualify your advert.
Although some categories are more flexible than others, in general adverts
posted in the wrong category, will not be approved.
Adverts removed for any of the above reasons, will be done so without
notification, unless payment has been received.
If you have submitted payment, but your advert does not follow guidelines,
your payment will not be collected and you will be notified by Email.

How do I modify my listing?
On the main directory menu and at the top of the main
page, you will find the "Modify Listing" link. If you click on this
link, you will see a search form. The form will ask for the listing
number and the password (case sensitive) that you entered with this
listing. Once you have entered these, click on the "Search for Item
to Modify" button. If you entered the correct information, your listing
will be displayed with a modification form beneath it. The current information
from your listing will already be filled in, so you only need to modify
the fields that you want to change. Once you have filled in the form,
click on the "Submit Modification(s)" button. You should then see an
acknowledgement page if your listing was successfully modified.

see a search form. The form will ask for the listing number and the

have entered these, click on the "Search for Item to Delete" button.

Item to Delete" button. If you entered the correct information, your
ad will be displayed with a warning beneath it indicating that you are
about to delete it. If you are sure that you want to delete this listing,
click on the "Delete This Ad" button. You should then see an acknowledgement
page if your ad was successfully deleted.

Scams & Fraud
1/ This is a world wide problem, not only for Internet
sites, but also magazine & newspaper classifieds.
2/ Your Email address is hidden on the NFED Classifieds and Directory,
unless you post it in the body of your listing.
3/ If you reply to an enquiry, they will then have your Email address.
If the enquiry seems suspicious, ignore it.
To help combat this problem, we have created a special scam page listing
the latest scams and offenders. Please Click Here for full details. If you
receive any suspicious replies, please forward them to us for inclusion
on the page.

Why didn't my search turn up any
hits?
Your search criteria may have been too narrow. Go back
to the search form and leave more of the search fields blank, or click
on the "New Search" button and do a general search. For the broadest
possible search, simply click on the "See All Ads" button.
How do I navigate the search results
page?
The results of your search will be displayed on the
search results page. To see more of your search results, you can click
on the "See The Next X Ads" button beneath the ads displayed on this
page.

How do I contact someone who has
posted a classified ad or listing?
Clicking on the Reply to Ad link on any advert will
call up an advert reply form. Enter your Email address and message to
the advertiser and then click on the Send Reply button. Your message
will be sent to the advertisers Email address.
Please note: For security reasons all advertisers Email addresses
are hidden in the NFED Classifieds and Directory unless it has bee put
in the body of the advert. To discourage scammers who send pre typed
replies to hundreds of advertisers, pasting has been disabled on the
contact form and each message will have to be typed directly into the
form. Please avoid text talk, give as much information as you can, ask
sensible questions and include your phone number. If your enquiry does
not seem to be genuine, the advertisers are unlikely to reply as this
will give their Email address.
