Many small animals are advertised as rescues or rehoming to
avoid advertising charges. Permanent rehoming or rescues will require the standard
£8.99 charge unless it is made clear in the advert that no payment or
less than £175 will be required.
Adverts offering any type of service for payment are not permitted.
Please use the Business & Services Directory section. Please Click
Here.
Adverts subject to payment will only be approved when payment
has been received. You can pay by credit/debit/Paypal card securely online through
our shopping cart system, phone, cash or post a cheque. If payment is not received within 2 days, the advert will expire from
the waiting list.
All adverts submitted by Email, phone or post will be charged the standard
£8.99 regardless of value or advert type.

How do the payments work?
New adverts that are subject to payment will not be posted by the administrator until payment has been received.
To make things as simple as possible for our users, we offer several different payment options.
You can purchase your adverts and extras such as Photo Galleries through our shopping cart system and then pay online by debit/credit card, Paypal, Bank Transfer, Phone or Cheque. Once you have a shopping cart account, your name & contact details will be remembered, which will save time each time you use the system & you can log in at any time to view or print invoices. Using Paypal express will bypass the login section offering a very quick way to pay, but still provide an invoice.
All card payments are processed by Sagepay. We have been certified as PCI DSS Compliant by Security Metrics on behalf of HSBC.
If you prefer not to pay online, we also accept card payments by phone, cheques by post or if you are local, you can pay by cash.
When we receive notification that the payment has been received, adverts will normally be approved within 24 hours, you will be sent confirmation by Email.
This is not a completely automated process; all adverts are checked by the administrator before approval. If the advert is not approved, your payment will be refunded. All transactions will show on your statement as “CK Art-NFED”. If payment is received for an advert that does not require payment, we will assume that you wish to list your ad under featured ads. This will be done for you providing the advert is suitable.
Please note: The secure server is on a different system to the remainder of the site, if the server is unavailable, please try again later.
You will be sent a reminder by Email if payment is not received, the advert will then be removed from the waiting list the following day. If a payment is received after the advert has expired, a replacement advert will be posted for you.
To Pay by Phone.
Please call 0843 2891 751. If we are out of the office, please leave your name and number and we will return your call & provide your advert password as proof of identity. .
If the office is closed for a longer period, we will be unable to accept phone payments, but online payments will be processed normally. Any office closures will be shown in the Contact section & we will try to give as much notice as possible.
Bank Transfer:
If you bank online, you can make the payment by bank transfer using the following details.

How do I get a free advert?
Free adverts are standards adverts that the administrator has approved without the normal £8.99 payment. There are no special categories, but they must satisfy the criteria stated in the guidelines & price list, so please read the rules & guidelines before accepting them. The NFED & it’s sponsors are funding free adverts by allowing free use our resources, support & benefiting from the considerable amount of money, time & effort that we spend on promoting the site & advertising to attract new users. This offer is there to help, but is open to abuse, so if the criteria are not met, the same advert has been posted within the last 8 weeks, required information is not supplied or the administrator is not satisfied by the legitimacy of the advert, the free offer will be withdrawn & the standard payment will be required. Anyone found to be abusing the system, falsely advertising, being dishonest or causing problems in any way will no longer be eligible for free adverts.

My horse is free to a good home; do I have to pay for my advert?
Yes, all horse & pony offered ads are subject to the standard fee regardless of the animal value or asking price. We did originally try very hard to keep adverts free for horses under £175, but the free offer was widely abused by dishonest advertisers & scammers. The only way around this is to charge the same for all equines. Obviously anyone trying to rehome or give a horse away may see this as unfair, but the advert payments are necessary to make the site a viable business. If you are not happy to pay, you are welcome to view the wanted adverts or charge the advert price for the animal. An exception may be made for registered charities, but the Charities Commission registration number must be shown in the advert (this will be checked on the charities commission website) & this will be entirely at the administrator’s discretion.
Loans, Part Loans, Share, Riding Offered & Rider Wanted?
All of the above are treated as “Loans” & are subject to the standard payment. We did originally offer free loan adverts, but far too many horses for sale or loan with view to buy were posted in the loan category. This was unfair on anyone looking for a loan or paying to use the site in the proper way & was the cause of many complaints. If you are not happy to pay, you are welcome to view the loans wanted or rider available adverts or simply charge the advert price as a one off contribution. An exception may be made for registered charities, but the Charities Commission registration number must be shown in the advert (this will be checked on the charities commission website) & this will be entirely at the administrator’s discretion.
I am only looking for a rider, why do I have to pay for my advert?
It is impossible to differentiate between rider wanted & part loan/share adverts, please see previous question. The only exception will be rider wanted for payment, i.e. employment offered. Providing the advert is posted in the employment offered category & it is evident that the rider will be paid, the advert will be free of charge subject to the usual terms.

Do we offer discounts for regular advertisers?
The prices were lowered to the absolute minimum for practical card processing some time ago. Offering discounts to regulars actually creates more admin as records have to be kept; it is far simpler & therefore cheaper for our users to keep one low price for all ads.
Do I have to use my real name when posting an advert?
The advertiser is entirely responsible for the advert, so it is important to know who the advertiser is & be able to trace them in the event of a problem.
We fully understand that many would prefer not to show their personal details online, so the name, address & phone number will be hidden by default. If you would like to show your name & phone number, simply select YES. If you would like to give a phone number, but hide your other name, include the number in the main text of your advert.
Why do I have to give my address
when posting an advert?
Over the years that we have been running this website, we have been asked to help several police forces and authorities including Trading Standards with their enquiries into various advertiser’s activities. Although all advertisers are solely responsible for their own adverts, we have to accept some responsibility for the website and who we allow to use it.
Your street address details will be hidden from the public in the advert.
If we cannot trace the person responsible for the advert, the advert will be rejected. In all cases personal details will always be kept in strictest confidence inline with the Data Protection Act and will not used for advertising purposes or passed on anyone other than the relevant authorities in the event of an investigation.
Paid ads are more relaxed as the details will be provided with the payment. If you do not want to give any details, you are welcome to pay for your advert & provide details with your payment. This will also make your advert eligible as a featured ad providing it is suitable.
How do I hide my name and phone number?
On the advert submission form there is an option which asks “Display Name & Phone Number?” simply select NO and your name and telephone number fields will not be shown in your advert. If you would like to show your telephone number but not your name, the number will have to be put it the main advert text.
For safety reasons, we recommend that anyone under the age of 16 does not show a name & phone number in their advert.
What should I put in the "Text
of Ad" box?
We advise you to first type out your advert in a word processing program such as MS Word. This gives you a chance to read back your advert, check your spelling and grammar, all of which can make your advert so much more appealing to potential buyers. Please don’t type in upper case, this is considered as shouting & makes an advert very difficult to read. When you are happy with the advert, simply copy (control c) and paste (control v) it into the submission form. There is no need to make your text fit the submission form, the software will make your text fit the page.
Please describe the animal or item that you are trying to sell honestly and include as much detail as you can including sex, size, age, breeding, colour, temperament, experience, build, vices, problems, etc. You can use a maximum 600 words and obviously a good photo really can make all the difference, so try to include one or even a thumbnail gallery if you can. If you have any problems with the photos, we can normally sort them out for you.
The search facilities will search for matching words in your advert title or text, so to give your advert the best possible chance ensure that keywords are included & spelt correctly. For example, if you are advertising a thoroughbred don’t just put TB, but include thoroughbred in your advert. Include other words that are appropriate & may be searched for, i.e. dressage, show jumping. After you advert has been approved, try searching for it & modify it if necessary to improve the search performance.
Remember to include the price, if no price is given it will be assumed to be at least £175 this will make your advert subject to payment and your advert will not be approved until payment has been received.
HTML is permitted in the advert text box at the administrator’s discretion. Any advert containing html code that disrupts the smooth running of the site is subject to instant removal. I Frames other than those used for Classifieds Thumbnail Galleries are not permitted. Imported pictures must be under 700 pixels wide & no more than 3 photos in total. Any website links are subject to the standard link rules.

Does my advert work?
You should receive an automated reply when your advert was submitted, if you did not receive this there may be problem. Try sending a reply to your own NFED Classified advert to see if it works.
If you do not receive your enquiry there are a number of things to check. First of all, check that you have entered your Email address correctly. This can be done using the ““Modify Ad” option. Remember that there should be no spaces in an Email address. If your address is correct, check your anti-spam software, spam or junkmail folders to ensure the Emails are not getting blocked. Adding nfed.co.uk to your trusted sites or whitelist should help.
If none of these options work, try opening a new free Email account such as Hotmail, Gmail or FSMail and changing your Email address using the ““Modify Ad” option.

I am not happy with an advert I've seen, what do I do?
The advertiser is entirely responsible for the advert, ensuring that it is legal & accurately describes the animal or items. We are not in a position to judge if the description is correct or any complaints received are legitimate.
Approval of an advert only confirms that required information has been supplied; it is not endorsing an advert, animal or items shown in any way whatsoever.
If you disagree with an advert, please Email the administrator with the details of the problem & include your full name & contact details. The advertiser will be advised that we have received a complaint & reminded of their legal responsibilities, but the complainant’s details will remain confidential.
Should any future investigations arise, all correspondence will be passed on to the official investigating official authority for possible use as evidence. If the complaint is upheld, the advertiser may be liable for any refunds or damages for losses caused.
We realise that this may be frustrating if you have a genuine concern, but complaints are often malicious gossip or untrue, caused by yard/show politics/fall outs to cause trouble for the advertiser. Complaint numbers cannot be relied upon due to the ease of contacting friends or spreading rumours via social networking sites.
Occasionally an advert comes through that is likely to cause problems, but is not illegal. The pros & cons of accepting the advert have to be looked in to very carefully. If it is deliberate cruelty, the advertiser is unlikely to advertise the fact, so it is far more likely due to ignorance or a lack of education. In most cases the damage has already been done, so it is better to accept the advert knowing that it may cause problems. The advertiser will undoubtedly receive advice from concerned readers, which will hopefully prevent a reoccurrence, but with luck the animal will quickly find a new home & be given a second chance. Should it turn out to be deliberate cruelty, we do have all the advertiser details which may be passed on to official investigating authorities if required.
The alternative would be to not accept the advert or remove the offending words/photos. This would certainly be the easier option, but turning a blind eye would not prevent it happening again or help the animal in any way. Rest assured, that by accepting an advert, we are not condoning abuse or cruelty in any way.

Why can't I advertise for a job?.
Due to the number of freelance services being advertised which is unfair for our sponsors that help to provide the service & the amount of under sixteen’s advertising for work & putting themselves at risk by providing their age & mobile phone numbers, we no longer provide an Employment Wanted category. If you are looking for work, which includes work experience or apprenticeships, we suggest that you check the employment offered section regularly or follow the NFED on Facebook or Twitter as employment ads will be featured.

What does Forest Bred mean?
Forest Bred ponies or stock have had the benefit of spending some of their formative months on the open forest. Here they are absorbing valuable experiences. The New Forest has a varied terrain which includes streams, wooden bridges and tarmac roads with yellow/white markings. They will have seen all sorts of traffic and some will have lived near railway lines and trains. Besides living in the company of cattle, deer, donkeys and occasional pigs, they also meet the general public with buggies, cycles, dogs and children. Please Click Here for further details about the ponies on the forest.

Trade/Dealer Advertising Notice
Under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 it is an offence in the UK if you fail to declare that you are a business seller in your advert. You are breaking the law if you mislead potential buyers into thinking that you are a private individual when you are business seller. Ads offering goods, supplied, manufactured to order, or regular ads offering multiple new items or with options such as a range of sizes or colours either on the NFED or elsewhere, will be treated as trade & not eligible for free ads without a current directory listing.

Two or more animals or items in one advert
We do allow more than one horse or item in your advert but certain restrictions apply on top of the normal guidelines.
The advert cost is calculated on the value of the individual items or animals, not the total value. If any of the animals or items would normally require payment, the advert will be charged the standard payment of £8.99.
The advert WILL NOT be renewed free of charge under any circumstances to bring it back to the top.
We will resize & upload a single image, but do not create photo compilations or change the photograph for you if one of the items or animals are sold, but you are welcome to manage your own photos.
The advert is subject to removal without notice if items are removed leaving the ad in the wrong category.

How do I know if my advert has been approved?
We try to keep the cost of this service as low as possible
and reducing administration does help. If you have submitted payment,
and your advert has been approved, you will receive confirmation by Email.
If you have submitted a free advert, you will NOT be notified. Please
return and check the classifieds; If your advert has been approved you
will be able to view it normally without logging in. Try browsing the
adverts and noting the latest advert numbers. If the numbers are above
your own advert number, there may be a problem with your advert. Please
see the below for possible reasons.
How long will it be before my advert is approved?
Adverts are approved frequently throughout the day between 07.00am & 10.30pm every day including weekends & bank holidays, but please allow up to 24 hours. Providing we are in an area with a mobile signal, we can also approve ads when we are out of the office, but cannot send receipts or resize/upload photos received by Email, this will be done when we return to the office.
Why was my advert rejected?
All new ads have to be approved by the administrator, yes a real person before they are posted on the site, this is normally done within 24 hours, but may take longer at busy times.
If your advert is subject to payment it will not be approved until payment has been received.
The advertiser’s full name must be supplied. Your name will be hidden from public view by default, but you can choose to show it you prefer.
Adverts that do not have full address details including the house name/number, street, town & postcode WILL BE REJECTED. The street address & post code is hidden in your advert, only the town & county will be displayed to the public. Paid ads are more relaxed as the details are supplied with the payment details.
This is clearly indicated in the guidelines which must be accepted before an advert can be submitted, so please don’t complain to the administrator if the guidelines are ignored & the advert is rejected for this reason.
Adverts putting under 16 year olds at risk will not be approved. Although your details must be supplied, if you show an age of under 16, do not show your name or include your phone number or Email address in your advert text.
You must describe the animal or items as accurately as possible. Adverts without an adequate description are not approved, i.e. “various items or ponies, call for details, other items available or similar” will be rejected.
If no price is shown, POA, offers, rehoming, swap or similar is displayed, the value will be assumed to be over £175 and the advert will not be approved until payment has been received. Please note that this does not apply to equines, as all horse or pony offered adverts are subject to payment regardless of value.
Wanted ads do really have to mean Wanted! For example wording a riding offered advert as “person wanted to ride a horse” does not class it as a wanted advert, it is a Riding Offered ad. Lorry wanted in exchange for trailer will be classed as Trailer Offered. In all cases these ads must go in the offered categories & are subject to the normal payment rules or they will be rejected.
Adverts exceeding the fair usage policy do not qualify as free ads: The same or similar advert must not have been advertised within the last 8 weeks. The advertiser must not have posted more than 15 free adverts in the previous 30 days. The advertiser must not have more than 30 free adverts online at any time. It is the advertiser’s responsibility to keep track of their adverts & remove adverts that are no longer required.
The free employment offered section is aimed at employers with vacancies. Adverts advertising any kind of service in exchange for payment, are not free and should be placed in the NFED business directory.
Please Click Here. Employment wanted adverts will not be approved.
The riders available category is aimed at people with spare time to ride. Any adverts advertising riding for payment, instruction, breaking, exercising, etc, are offering a professional service, are therefore not free and should be placed in the NFED business directory. Please Click Here. Rider wanted adverts will not be approved in this category
Adverts for goods sold as a trade, business or manufactured to order are not eligible as free ads unless the advertiser has a current listing in the directory, in which case all the normal criteria for free ads will apply.
As explained in the guidelines, we do not accept ads for employment wanted, transport wanted for hire or share or manure/muck heaps. Please see the guidelines for further details.
Any adverts not complying to guidelines, trying to fool the system, or posted by blacklisted advertisers will not be accepted.
Any advertiser that has previously abused the system, falsely advertised, acted or traded dishonestly, supplied false information, used multiple Email accounts, reversed payments or in any way caused problems or bought the site in to disrepute will not be eligible for free adverts.
Although some categories are more flexible than others, in general adverts posted in the wrong category, will not be approved.
If you have submitted payment, but your advert is rejected for any reason, your payment will refunded and you will be notified by Email.
Adverts submitted from advertisers either under investigation or having unresolved complaints against them will not be accepted. The administrator’s decision is final & we reserve the right to refuse adverts without explanation as this may affect any ongoing police or trading standards investigation.

I have just paid for my advert submitted yesterday, but it is not on the front page?
All adverts are issued a number when submitted to the database. They are then listed in numerical order (by Ad Number), not in the order that they are approved. Delaying payment can result in your advert not appearing on the front page. To maximise your advertising coverage, we recommend that you pay as soon as possible. If payment is delayed for any reason, it may be worth removing the original advert via the control panel & submitting a new advert before paying. Once approved, the service will be deemed to have started & the advert will be subject to the 8 week replacement rule..
Featured ads are listed on the NFED home page, Twitter & Facebook in the order that they are approved, not numerical order, so this order may differ from the order in the actual classifieds.
How do I modify my ad?
Go to the Advert Control Panel on the main Classifieds menu and click on the "Modify My Advert" button, you will then be taken to a search fom. The
form will ask for the ad number and the password (case sensitive) that you entered with this ad. Once you have entered these, click on the "Search for Item to Modify" button. If you entered the correct information, your ad will be displayed with a modification form beneath it. The current information from your ad will already be filled in, so you only need to modify the fields that you want to change. Once you have filled in the form, click on the "Submit Modifications" button. You should then see an acknowledgement page if your ad was successfully modified.
To keep the Classifieds in order, any adverts marked as sold or that are obviously no longer required will be periodically removed by the administrator. Any suitable comments will be copied onto the Testimonials page.
When an advert is approved, it is only for the animal or item originally submitted. Adverts are not allowed to be modified to advertise a different animal/s or items. The administrator will receive notification by Email when any modifications are made. If the advert is changed to a different item or animal, the price is increased to £175 or any other changes are made that do not fit within the guidelines, the advert will removed without notice. No refunds are given for advert removed for the above reason. Anyone suspected of deliberately abusing or attempting to cheat the system will no longer be eligible for free adverts. Any existing free adverts will be subject to removal without notice.
Can I move my advert back to the top?
The adverts cannot be moved. Each advert is given a unique number when submitted, the adverts are then in strict numerical order which cannot be changed. Everyone would like to be at the top, this is the fairest system & helps to prevent queue jumping. To bring an advert back to the top it must be replaced entirely.
Free Ads: Providing the advert is at least 8 weeks old, simply remove it & submit a new advert. But note, if an advert is under 8 weeks old, it will not qualify as a free advert & will not be approved without payment.
Paid Ads: If a paid ad is a minimum of eight weeks old, it can be replaced free of charge but conditions do apply. This is obviously open to abuse and therefore entirely at the administrator’s discretion.
* We will not renew any advert that contains or originally advertised or mentioned more than one animal or item.
* Adverts offering grazing or livery vacancies will not be renewed. Any yard listed in the Directory can place a new advert for vacancies free of charge. If you often have vacancies, we recommend taking out a directory listing.
* The animal or item advertised must clearly match the original advert, if there is any doubt or the description is too vague, the administrator will refuse to change the advert without payment.
* Adverts under eight weeks old WILL NOT be replaced without payment under any circumstances.
* The advert must be submitted by the advertiser. If you would like us to post the new advert for you, it will require payment.
* Adverts renewed without payment will not be featured. If you would like to renew your advert & have it featured on the NFED homepage, RSS feeds, Facebook & Twitter you will have to pay for the renewal.
If you would like to renew your advert free of charge:
1: Check the posted date shown on the top of the advert to ensure that it is at least eight weeks old.
2: Submit a new advert and then Email both the old & new advert numbers to the administrator.
Providing everything is ok, the administrator will approve the new advert, copy over any photographs & delete the old advert for you.
To renew an advert with payment:
Simply repay for the existing advert via the shopping cart. This can be done at any time, there is no need to wait 8 weeks.
1: Click here to go to the shopping cart.
2: Enter your advert number, put renew in the comments box & continue.
We will replace the advert for you, all details including any photos & passwords will remain the same, only the advert number will change. If you have a gallery, this will be transferred to your new advert; there is no need to pay again for the gallery. The advert will be featured providing it is suitable.

How do I remove my ad?
Go to the Advert Control Panel on the main Classifieds menu and click on the "Remove My Advert" button, you will then be taken to a search form. The form will ask for the ad number and the password (case sensitive) that you entered with this ad. Once you have entered these, click on the "Search for Item to Delete" button. If you entered the correct information, your ad will be displayed with a warning beneath it indicating that you are about to delete it. If you are sure that you want to delete this ad, click on the "Delete This Ad" button. You should then see an acknowledgement page if your ad was successfully deleted.
NOTE: When an advert is deleted, it is permanent & cannot be recovered. Any repeat/replacement adverts will not qualify as free adverts unless the original advert was 8 weeks old. To replace the advert or readvertise the animals or items you must either wait 8 weeks from the original advert date or pay the standard insertion fee.
By submitting & paying an insertion fee for an advert you are entering into a contract for an advertising service with the CK Art - NFED. When the advert is approved, the service is deemed to have started. Any cancellation rights will end at this point as explained in the Distant Selling Regulations 2000 for online services. Although you can remove your advert at any time, the service provider (CK Art – NFED) is under no obligation to provide refunds or a cooling off period. Any refunds for approved adverts will be strictly at the administrator’s discretion.

Scams & Fraud
1/ This is a world wide problem, not only for Internet
sites, but also magazine & newspaper classifieds.
2/ Your Email address is hidden on the NFED Classifieds, unless you post
it in the body of your advert.
3/ If you reply to an enquiry to your advert, they will then have your
Email address. If the enquiry seems suspicious, ignore it.
4/ Don’t worry, the NFED Classified have become very popular with thousands
of successful adverts being posted. 99.999% of all users are genuine equestrian
enthusiasts; it only takes one person who can copy & paste the same Email
to several advertisers, to cause concern. If he/she is ignored, they will
move on.
To help combat this problem, we have created a special scam page listing
the latest scams and offenders. Please Click Here for full details. If you
receive any suspicious replies, please forward them to us for inclusion
on the page.

Using the Classifieds Search Facilities
The classifieds have two search engines, simple search & advance search.
Using either of these options can save a lot of time if you are looking for
a specific item or animal.
The simple search is located at the top of the classifieds under the drop down
menus. This is useful for basic searches & will search all categories. The
advanced search can be found on the left hand menu under viewing options, with
advanced search, you can choose which categories to search, time periods, whether
the ads have photos & how the adverts are shown. Both search engines can
save a lot of time if used correctly, so it is worth reading these basic tips
& having a practice.
- Don't use words that are in the category titles or it will find every advert
in that category.
- Don't use the, and, offered, ect or every advert will be found that contain
those words.
- If a word can be written different ways, search for common letters or carry
out several searches.
- Fewer words or part words are often better & give more accurate results.
Examples:
1/ Looking for an Albion Saddle, enter "Albion" & only adverts
containing "albion are found, enter "Albion saddle" & all adverts
with the word saddle are found. If you use the basic search all categories will
be searched, but use the advanced search & you can choose just the saddlery
offered category.
2/ If you are looking for a 13.2 driving pony. This can be written several
ways: driving, driven, drive. If you search for "driving" it will
not find "driven". Use the advance search & enter the common letters
"driv" & select the 14.2hh & under offered category. All adverts
which contain the letters driv (driving, driven, drive) in the under 14.2hh
category will be shown.
3/ You would like a new forest foal. Use the advance search, enter "forest"
& select the foals & youngstock category.
4/ You have forgotten your advert number. Enter your name in the basic search
& all adverts from that name are displayed.
5/ To view a certain advert, enter the advert number in basic search.

How do I navigate the search
results page?
The results of your search will be displayed on the search
results page. To see more of your search results, you can click on the
"See The Next X Ads" button beneath the ads displayed on this page.

How do I contact someone who
has posted a classified ad?
Clicking on the Reply to Ad link on any advert will call
up an advert reply form. Enter your Email address and message to the advertiser
and then click on the Send Reply button. Your message will be sent to
the advertisers Email address.
Please note: For security reasons all advertisers Email addresses
are hidden in the NFED Classifieds unless they put it in the body of the
advert. To discourage scammers who send pre typed replies to hundreds
of advertisers, pasting has been disabled on the contact form and each
message will have to be typed directly into the form. Please avoid text
talk, give as much information as you can and ask sensible questions.
If your enquiry does not seem to be genuine, the advertisers are unlikely
to reply as this will give their Email address.

Miscellaneous
If you receive a genuine enquiry please reply promptly. If your advert is no longer required, please help us to keep the site tidy & remove it from the classifieds. Any adverts marked as sold or obviously no longer required, will be periodically removed by the administrator. Finally, if you have found the NFED Classifieds useful, please tell others about them and help us to promote the site.
